MH17: What is the DVI Team?

The Disaster Victims Identification (DVI) process was held in Korpraal van Oudheusdenkazerne, Hilversum Military camp, situated about 30 km from Amsterdam, dedicated for military medical education and training. It was the chosen site as it is able to provide security, safety and confidentiality to the DVI personnel, victim remains, database and classified information. The DVI personnel were accommodated in army barracks within walking distance from the operation facility. A multipurpose hall was converted into a temporary mortuary. A parade square nearby was converted into a temporary refrigerated body storage area. Multiple cold storage containers were arranged on the parade square to store the coffins of victim remains.
