PRESS STATEMENT
MINISTER OF HEALTH MALAYSIA
NO DIRECTIVE TO REFUSE TREATMENT BASED ON CLOTHING
The Ministry of Health (MOH) would like to refer to an article in The Rakyat Post titled ‘Two year old toddler denied treatment as his mothers pants were apparently too short’ on November 6, 2015.
We would like to reiterate policy of MOH is to provide services to all regardless of age, sex, marital status, socio-cultural standing, religious values or political inclinations. There is no directive from the Ministry to any hospital or clinic to discriminate against any individual based upon one’s clothing more so during times of emergency.
Preliminary investigations have already been initiated and the complaint will be looked in a just and fair manner.
Thank you
Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam
Minister of Health Malaysia
